Classroom Book Award Winners

A couple weeks ago, I posted about hosting my first Classroom Book Awards after reading about the idea on Colby Sharp's blog.  Last week, the students nominated books for each award category and this week we voted using our ballots.  The students were excited to participate in this voting process and couldn't wait to find out the results!  This is the last week of school so I tallied up the results yesterday and unveiled the winners.
Here are our Classroom Book Award Winners for some of our categories:

Best Graphic Novel: Babymouse by Jennifer Holm and Matt Holm

Best Picture Book of the Year: Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal

Best Middle Grade Novel: One for the Muphys by Lynda Mullaly Hunt

Best Social Issues Book of the Year: Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick

Read Aloud of the Year: Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper

Most Inspiring Book of the Year: The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen

Happy Reading! :)

  1. Love this idea!! I did a similar idea to wrap up the year with May Book Madness (idea borrowed from tony keefers march madness). Each class started with 64 books and wound up with one book that was favorite for their class. Your idea allows more books to be recognized - very smart! May be borrowing this idea from you and Colby next year. Thanks for sharing!
